The Altering Group - Low-Cost Counselling Service
We offer remote low-cost counselling, providing high-quality, inclusive and accessible counselling. Initial assessments are free of charge, and counselling session fees are offered on a sliding scale, based on individual annual income, with sessions starting from just £10 per hour. Currently our average waiting time for counselling is 2-3 weeks from referral. Faster than the industry average.
We believe everyone should have access to high-quality counselling, regardless of their background or financial situation. We are continuously developing our service to ensure we meet the diverse needs of our communities.
We are not a specialised or crisis service, therefore there are some situations where we may not be the most suitable support. Our priority is always ensuring you receive the care that’s right for you.

Who can use this service?
How are services delivered?
Our counselling service is available to adults (18+) who may be facing a wide range of challenges.
At this time, we’re unable to offer counselling to individuals who are:
- Currently experiencing a mental health crisis
- Seeking specialist support for PTSD
- Living with a diagnosed personality disorder
- Living with a diagnosis of schizophrenia
- Living with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder
- Currently experiencing symptoms of psychosis
We are a remote counselling service offering both video and telephone sessions.
